Job Description:

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Software Engineer on a initial 6 month contract for a busy Government Department that delivers leading observational, climate change and scientific research and information. 

You will undertake targeted software development to further develop our capability in preparation for next generation architectures in the critical areas of, simulation systems; I/O; and optimisation. This will ensure the ability to use and further enhance modelling and research.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Design, implement, test and document new software changes
• Familiarity with one or more compiled programming languages, e.g. Fortran, C, C++
• Competence in Python, Linux and version control, e.g. github, svn, etc
• Working within a defined quality-focused development cycle

Candidates will need to hold current SC Security Clearance or be eligible to apply.

The role will mainly be remote home based with occasional office attendance in Exeter.
