We are looking for a Procurement Officer to join our Corporate Procurement Service and support a varied programme of procurement activity across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to develop their career within a public sector environment, working across a range of goods, works and services.

You will support the delivery of low to medium value procurement exercises, helping to ensure activity is well planned, compliant and delivered effectively from sourcing through to contract award.

Key responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end procurement exercises, including tender documentation, evaluation and contract award.
  • Ensure procurement activity complies with legislation, Contract Procedure Rules and internal governance.
  • Work closely with commissioners, budget holders and service teams to deliver procurement activity on time.
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on procurement processes and requirements.
  • Support supplier engagement and contract management activities.
  • Lead on procurement notices through the Central Digital Platform.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, systems and contract registers.
  • Use procurement systems including Oracle and Proactis.
  • Assist with spend analysis, market research and procurement planning to identify savings and efficiencies.
  • Support procurement administration, including FOI requests.

We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused procurement professional with:

  • Experience in procurement or contracts, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
  • A good understanding of procurement processes, tendering and framework agreements.
  • Experience supporting or delivering end-to-end procurement exercises.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Experience using procurement or contract management systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement governance and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • The confidence to explain procurement requirements clearly to non-specialists.
