Our client is currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor within Highways Service on an initial 5 month contract.

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Highways Service, a newly formed and innovative team delivering both routine maintenance and multi-million-pound infrastructure schemes across the county.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare estimates, tenders and Bills of Quantities from drawings and Schedule of Rates
  • Provide financial oversight and cost control on major highways and public realm projects
  • Manage site measurements, valuations, compensation events and variations
  • Handle monthly applications for payment, final accounts and marked-up drawings
  • Lead procurement activity including material orders, call-offs, and work package agreements
  • Support contract management, budget tracking, forecasting, and risk identification
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure all commercial impacts are captured and managed
  • Promote excellent customer service across all areas of project delivery

What we’re looking for:

  • A professionally qualified Quantity Surveyor (or working towards qualification) with experience in highways, civil engineering or public realm works
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to interpret designs and specifications
  • Proven skills in cost estimation, budget management, and commercial reporting
  • Experience with compensation events, NEC contracts, and public sector procurement (desirable)
  • A collaborative team player with confidence in managing relationships across stakeholders, suppliers and site teams
  • Politically aware, commercially astute and committed to achieving best value for public services
