Are you an experienced auditor looking for your next challenge? We are seeking a Senior Auditor to join a forward-thinking and respected Internal Audit Service, supporting both local government and external public sector clients.
In this role, you will work as part of a professional and collaborative team delivering high-quality internal audit services that provide assurance over governance, risk management and control arrangements. You will manage a portfolio of complex audits, contribute to the development of annual audit plans, and help shape continuous improvement across the team.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead and deliver audits with minimal supervision, using a risk-based approach
• Evaluate internal controls, governance and risk management practices
• Identify and communicate practical, value-adding recommendations
• Develop audit scopes, methodologies, and tailored testing strategies
• Produce clear, concise reports for senior stakeholders
• Contribute to the annual audit planning process
• Support and coach junior auditors, sharing technical expertise
• Work closely with clients to understand their needs and deliver insightful audit solutions

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in internal audit, ideally within the public sector
• A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CMIIA, CIA, ACCA, CIPFA) or significant progress towards one
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple audits and priorities effectively
• Familiarity with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS)
• Strong IT skills, including the effective use of MS Office and audit management software
