Writing your CV can feel like a lengthy process, however, it is worth taking into account the following
guidance to ensure you highlight your experiences and skills.
Current details
- Ensure your name and contact details are clear and up to date
Profile / Cover Note
- Create a brief summary of your experiences, skills, and qualities that
highlight your key talents. Ensure you are concise and professional as this is the
1st detail a potential employer will see.
Key Skills
- This can vary dependent on your expertise (technical skills / soft skills etc.),
however, ensure it is clear and obvious. Bullet points will help deliver a concise
message. - Include specialist IT packages you have worked with and include time
frames
Employment History
- Write your work experience in chronological order.
- Confirm the Name of the company you work/ed for, Job title, and dates of
employment (month and year). - Give a brief overview of your position followed by bullet points that
highlight your key duties.
Hobbies / Interests
- This is your opportunity to highlight any hobbies or personal interests you
have to give a more personal feel for the CV.
Formatting
- Ensure you double-check your CV for spelling and grammar.
- Use a uniform size and font throughout the CV.
- Double-check the spaces to ensure consistency throughout.
- Highlight the employer, job title, and dates in bold.
